Step 1 – Select a Bible
q The NIV, NASB, ESV are all excellent translations of the original texts.
q The NLT is an excellent Bible for first time users who are just getting started.
q The NKJV or KJV can be used but will be difficult to match-up with the study guide we are using.
q The Concordia Self-Study Bible is the best with is notes, maps, and easy to use format.
Step 2 – Set Aside a Time to Read Your Bible
q Pick a time of the day that works for you.
q Some people like mornings while others like the afternoon or evening. Some people like reading during their lunch hour.
q Depending on how fast you read, you will need between 15 and 30 minuets to complete your reading for the day.
q Use the reading outline found in Section 1 of this workbook to chart your daily reading.
Step 3 – Daily Study Guide and Background Material
q We have made two resources available to supplement your daily reading. Remember to always read your Bible first and then the supplemental reading.
q The first supplement is a Daily Study Guide that will assist you in your daily reading. This material is designed to help highlight some of the major
thoughts and ideas for your reading. This study guide can be downloaded from
the web at www.gardendalegoodshepherd.org nd click on the “Walk Thru the
Bible” Link q The second supplement is a Background Survey of each book of the Bible. It
sometimes is helpful to read this material before studying a new book. It also
provides charts, maps, and diagrams to assist your reading.
Step 4 – Join a “Walk Thru” Group
q Contact the church office to find out infomration on a current walk-thru Bible Group. That information can be reached by calling 631-6590.
